USCIS frequently updates the “editions” of its forms. Using an outdated version is one of the most common — and most avoidable — reasons a filing gets rejected. Here’s what to know in 2026.
Forms updated this year
Several commonly used forms received new editions in 2026, including:
- Form I-129 (Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker): new edition dated 02/27/26; starting April 1, 2026, only that edition is accepted.
- Form N-426 (Request for Certification of Military Service): new edition dated 03/13/26; starting June 1, 2026, only that edition is accepted.
- Form EOIR-29 (Notice of Appeal to the BIA): new edition dated 02/01/26.
- The fee schedule (Form G-1055) was updated several times during the year.
How to avoid a rejection
The rule is simple: download the form directly from uscis.gov right before you file and check the edition date at the bottom of the page. Don’t reuse a PDF you saved months ago.
